This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing. Just raw thoughts and emotions. You can find out more and/or join the party here.
If we’re not careful doubt will come in and get comfortable. Doubt is a device of the enemy and we all know what the enemy’s purpose is. He comes to kill, steal and destroy. If you let doubt fester and don’t evict it, it will absolutely kill, steal and destroy. It will kill your dreams, steal your chances at happiness and destroy the plans God has laid out for you. I battle doubt every day. How? You have to speak truth to it. Out loud if necessary. Here, I’ll show you.
God said I was to be a writer.
Doubt said, “I don’t know anything about writing. How am I possibly going to do this?”
Truth: My pastor has this saying he often speaks to us. “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” No matter what my skills were the moment before God called me to write, the moment after He called me I was already equipped with everything I would need.
Not to say I don’t still have my moments of doubt about my writing some days, but I know where to turn when those nagging thoughts come rolling in.
What truths are you speaking to your doubts today?
