This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing. Just raw thoughts and emotions. You can find out more and/or join the party here.
Weary. Yesterday I had something different to say on this topic, but today I know that there are different ways of being weary. There are days when you are just weary. Weary of the weight of your world on your shoulders, weary of the expectations of others and of yourself. Weary that the change we want never seems to come fast enough. I don’t know how to more quickly become the person I want to be, much less the one someone else wants me to be. Weary in the hussle and bussle of every day. Then there are days when you are just weary because of high emotion situations that we walk through in life: marriage, death, birth. I have experienced one of those this week. I know the difference in the weariness of it. No matter what kind of weary you are today, I hope that you can find rest. I hope that you know where to find rest. Let me give you a hint, it’s not in the arms of someone you love, but in the arms of the One who first loved you. Let God heal your broken pieces, let Him restore your spirit, let Him give you a renewed outlook for the days ahead. He’s the only one who truly can. I am going to find rest in the loving words of my Savior. I hope you can find some rest tonight, dear friend.
