31 Days of Where The Road Leads {2015}

October 2, 2015 By mollieh02 2 Comments

I am joining the write 31 days challenge for the month of October. It’s where we as bloggers are challenged to write and post something every day for the 31 days of October.  In addition to the write 31 days challenge I will also be participating in a challenge within the challenge, where I will be writing each blog post in just five minutes from a one word prompt!  Each blog post will be added to this page once they are published.  I really don’t have a plan for this series.  There will most likely be some videos, photos, and who knows what else.  My hope is that God will take over as He often does when I write and lead us somewhere beautiful!

I hope you’ll join me as I see where the road leads in five minute free writes!

It’s in the details.

Don’t you love that feeling you get when someone remembers something about your life that you really don’t expect them to remember?  It makes you feel like you are important to them.  Like you are special.  The little details are what make us unique.  Makes each one of us different from another.  The details matter.  They are what make us who we are.  When someone takes time out to take notice of those things and then to remember them later, oh what a beautiful feeling that is.

Some of us are just hardwired to notice these little details of life.  Are you one of those people?  Do you make the people around you feel noticed by recalling the little details of their lives?  I am a details girl myself.  I often notice things that go unnoticed by others, and it is the small details of life that more readily come to mind for me over other “more important” things.  It’s ok if you aren’t normally someone who takes notice of these things.  It is just another way you and I are different, and there is hope for you yet.  If you know that you don’t generally remember these things, then my advice to you is to WRITE IT DOWN when you do notice something.  I feel that you are more likely to remember something when you take the time and concentration to write it down.  If you still can’t remember, you always have the list to refer back to when you want to make them feel loved, cared for, noticed.  Recalling the little details of someone’s life is a beautiful way to say “I see you, I care for you, and the things that make you uniquely you matter to me.”  So, take the time to study the people who are important in your world, not in a creepy way now.  😉  Then show them that the details matter.

Dare To Be Brave

Day 4 of 31 of my series 31 Days of Walking in Love.

I realize there has been a long pause between days 3 and 4 in my series, we all fall down sometimes, but I am jumping back in the saddle and continuing my journey of walking in love.  Thank you to all who are still with me and those who will join me along the way.

This post is a part of Five minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing. Just raw thoughts and emotions. You can find out more and/or join the party here.  Tonight’s word is BRAVE.

Go–

The present state of this world sometimes makes me so sad.  People are so very afraid of their own emotions. Too afraid of what people with think or say, or afraid that they will be rejected, so they don’t say anything at all.  This lack of communication is bringing us down.  Sometimes all you need to hear is that someone loves you.  So, today I challenge you to make your declarations, be it of like or love.  Just tell them.  Be sure that every person you would miss knows that you would miss them.  Walk up to that person you have never spoken to and tell them that you would like to get to know them.  Tell your best friend, who just happens to be of the opposite sex, that you have been harboring an all consuming crush/love for them for years.  What’s the worst that can happen?  They say they don’t feel the same way?  Would that really really kill you?  I know it might hurt for a little while, but every one that isn’t the right one brings you one step closer to the one that God made for you.

I know when I watch friends celebrating anniversaries, or new marriages there is a place in my heart that aches for that kind of love.  Wouldn’t it be sad if you missed out on it because you were too afraid to put yourself out there and let your feelings be known?

Through New Eyes.

October 4, 2014 By mollieh02 6 Comments

Day 3 of 31 of my series 31 Days of Walking in Love.

300.1

Several years ago I worked as a public safety officer on a local college campus.  I had a coworker who I absolutely could not stand.  Everything about him just irked me.  About this time the holiday season was nearing, and i knew he would be alone.  That’s when the thought popped into my head to invite him to my family Thanksgiving dinner.  I immediately rejected the idea.  I didn’t want to.  We’ve all met them, those people who just rub us the wrong way.  Whether it’s one thing about them that bugs you, or a whole list of things.

How do we love those people who are hard for us to love?

My thoughts?  Change your perspective.  Strip away all the things that bug you about them and see them through new eyes.  So what is it you have left when you strip away all of that?  One of God’s children who is just trying to make it through this life.  They stumble, they fall and hopefully they get right back up and try again.  Everyone you come into contact with is one of God’s children.   Did you get that?  I said everyone you come into contact with is one of God’s children.  Whether they believe in Him or not.  After all, you were lost to Him once upon a time.  So, look at them with new eyes.  See what God sees when He looks at them.  When you stop thinking of them as someone who bugs you and start thinking about them as a brother or sister in Christ, or as one of His lost children, it will become so much easier to love them..

Sidenote:  The things that bother you the most about someone else is usually something that you dislike about yourself.  Just a thought…

The Greatest of These is Love.

Day 1 of 31 in my series 31 Days of Walking in Love.

-Go-

In or efforts to be like Jesus we should strive to walk in love. Jesus is God, and God is love, perfect unfailing love. To love was His greatest commission to us, to be held in higher esteem than even our own faith or ability to hope.  The greatest thing we can do for someone else is to show them the unfailing love of God, to let His love shine through us.  Even when we fail, His love can shine through.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

It seems like it should be such as easy thing to do, to love someone, to love everyone really. But, where He was perfect in love, we clearly are not. Sometimes it is a real struggle to show someone love. So sit back, get comfortable and be sure to come back here every day as I explore what scripture says about love, and discover new and different ways to walk in love every day.

For now, sit back and enjoy this song. Let it sink in. Let it touch the deepest parts of your heart.  Let it change you.

-Stop-

Jason Gray

Every Act Of Love

Sitting at the stoplight
He can’t be bothered by the heart cry
Written on the cardboard in her hand
But when she looks him in the eye
His heart is broken open wide
And he feels the hand of God reach out through him
As Heaven touches earth

(Chorus)
Oh – we bring the Kingdom come
Oh – with every act of love
Jesus help us carry You
Alive in us, Your light shines through
With every act of love
We bring the Kingdom come

There’s silence at the table
He wants to talk but he’s not able
For all the shame that’s locked him deep inside
But her words are the medicine
When she says they can begin again
And forgiveness will set him free tonight
As Heaven touches earth

(Chorus)

God put a million, million doors in the world
For his love to walk through
One of those doors is you
I said, God put a million, million doors in the world
For his love to walk through
One of those doors is you

(Chorus)

Oh – we bring the Kingdom come
Oh – with every act of love
Jesus help us carry You
Alive in us, Your light shines through
With every act of love
We bring the Kingdom come
With every act of love
We bring the Kingdom come
With every act of love
We bring the Kingdom come

Oh, the words of that song are so very powerful!  Speak them over yourself and your life.  Be one of those doors that His love walks through.
